Today's sports betting picks: Why Virginia Tech will cover vs. Old Dominion, plus more college football, MLB and soccer plays for Friday, September 2

Host Jonathan Coachman is joined by sports betting experts Emory Hunt, Mike McClure and Martin Green on The Early Edge podcast. They give you their best bets for college football, Major League Baseball and soccer for Friday, Sept. 2.

It's the first Friday of the college football season and Emory likes Virginia Tech -6 for an in-state matchup at Old Dominion: "I love the regional matchup and that ODU is now in the Sun Belt Conference. Tech has a new head coach in ex-Penn State defensive coordinator Brent Pry. He inherits a very good defense with an ability to smother and take away the football. ODU is bringing back a lot of guys, but the Hokies' defense will put a lot of pressure on young Monarchs QB Hayden Wolff."

Both the Orioles (vs. A's) and Red Sox (vs. Rangers) are around -180 home favorites tonight, so Coach is going to parlay both home sides at +152: "Baltimore is great at home and Boston will feed off the emotion of last night's wild comeback victory."

Martin likes a parlay of Manchester City and Liverpool to win Saturday in English Premier League action at -102: "Great price on by far the two best teams in the Premier League. City should annihilate Aston Villa after just beating Nottingham Forest 6-0 midweek. Liverpool do have a tougher game vs. local rival Everton but won both matches home and away last season."
