Today's sports betting picks: Bears to beat Commanders among best bets for Thursday Night Football, plus MLB and college football picks for Oct. 13

The SportsLine crew shares its expert bets for Thursday, Oct. 13 on The Early Edge podcast

Jonathan Coachman is joined by John Bollman, Larry Hartstein and Zack Cimini on The Early Edge podcast. They give you their best bets for Thursday Night Football, MLB Playoffs and college football for Oct. 13.

The crew runs down the storylines, breaking down Thursday Night Football, MLB Playoffs and college football. John notes that the Yankees vs. Guardians game (7:37 p.m. ET) could be postponed by inclement weather.

Coach then offers up the SportsLine Play of the Day, and it is a college football pick from Baylor vs. West Virginia (7 p.m. ET). The play is Baylor -3.5, though Bears Over 30 might be a good play, as well. "West Virginia, they have been absolute -- I hate using the F word -- 'frauds' this year, just a little bit" Coachman says.

Zack has an NFL pick from Bears vs. Commanders on Thursday Night Football, going with Chicago as a pick'em. Cimini says a lot of people might think a bad team like 1-4 Washington can get on track against a subpar opponent like the Bears. "This is the NFL," he says. "If you are a bad team, it's going to get worse." Zack mentions turmoil between Washington coach Ron Rivera and quarterback Carson Wentz and says Bears QB Justin Fields is making progress. Chicago is 2-0 at home, so Zack is backing them Thursday night.

Bollman then has an MLB pick from Mariners vs. Astros (3:37 p.m. ET), taking Seattle +140. Luis Castillo was "straight-up dominant" against Toronto in the Wild Card series, and Houston hasn't faced him this season. Framber Valdez for the Astros has had some issues in his past three starts and struggled in the postseason last year, allowing 17 runs in less than 20 innings.

The Maestro wraps things up with an NFL prop from Bears vs. Commanders, and he is going with Washington's Curtis Samuel Over 4.5 Receptions (-120). The Commanders are hurting at receiver, and Samuel leads the team in targets "by far," Hartstein says. He has at least four catches in every game and is the main guy on shallow routes. "He gets the quick throws," Larry says. "There could be wind tonight, there WILL be wind, which means we're going to see short throws."

Jon "Buckets" Eimer crashes the party to offer a soccer pick on Europa League Thursday. He is on the Ferencvaros vs. Red Star Belgrade match (3 p.m. ET), going with Both Teams to Score (-135). Red Star won their meeting 4-1 last week, and Ferencvaros will be out for revenge, so Eimer loves the value at this number.
