Jonathan Coachman is joined by expert sports bettors John Bollman and Micah Roberts on The Early Edge podcast. They give you their best bets for Major League Baseball, NASCAR, the NHL and college baseball for Sunday, June 26.
Coach starts things off with two SportsLine Plays of the Day. The first is in the NHL: The Avalanche (-115) to defeat the Lightning in Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final and win the championship (8 p.m. ET). "I looked at the numbers and I saw 19 straight times Colorado has not done back-to-back losses," he says. "They're on the road, it's going to be difficult closing things out in Tampa. But we're going to go against the grain."
The second SportsLine Play of the Day is in Major League Baseball: Over 4 runs for Los Angeles (-140) in the Dodgers-Braves three-game series finale (7 p.m. ET). "They're facing Spencer Strider. His ERA is north of 5.00," Coach says. "The Dodgers have scored at least four runs in four of their last five games."
Roberts is up next with a pair of plays in NASCAR. First, he likes Kyle Busch (-110) over Denny Hamlin in the Ally 400 (5 p.m. ET). "I think he's the best concrete driver we have in the Cup Series right now. I just think he has been better all season long, consistent, 11 top-10s after 16 races," he says. "Kyle Busch on concrete - eight wins at Bristol, three wins at Dover, he's got five wins at Nashville Superspeedway. … He just loves this track, he loves concrete."
Micah also likes Joey Logano (-115) over Ryan Blaney in the Cup Series race. "Logano has a 2009 win at Nashville. He's been good on concrete his entire career as well," he says. "His team puts it together, and when they show a little bit in practice or in qualifying, they show up on race day."
Coach jumps back in with an MLB play. He likes the Giants (-150) to defeat the Reds in the rubber match of their three-game series (4:05 p.m. ET). "The Reds are terrible," he says. "You give me the Giants -150 or lower, I'm going to take them every single time."
Bollman wraps things up with a pair of plays. The first is in college baseball: Oklahoma (+110) to beat Ole Miss in Game 2 of the College World Series (3 p.m. ET). "I'm not giving up on Oklahoma," he says. "Ole Miss used their closer last night, while Oklahoma was able to save theirs, so the entire Oklahoma lineup was able to see the Ole Miss closer's pitches, and he should be a little worked if he does appear in tonight's game. … Five out of the last six championship series have been won by the team that lost Game 1, including three straight. … Oklahoma should be settled in tonight, and I think they at least force a Game 3."
John's second play is in MLB. He likes the Guardians (-110) to top the Red Sox and avoid a three-game sweep (1:40 p.m. ET). "Aaron Civale actually pitched very well in his return from the IL and I think he'll be solid again today," he says. "Rich Hill has been decent, but he doesn't get deep into games, and he's probably the most gettable pitcher on the Red Sox staff. … These are two of the hottest teams in baseball entering this series, and the Guardians' bullpen has been very good, if they could just get a lead in this series."
