Today's picks: Why the Astros and Phillies will drive in runs, plus more MLB, college football, and CFL best bets for Friday, Oct. 28

SportsLine's proven experts share their favorite bets on the Early Edge podcast for Friday, Oct. 28

Jonathan Coachman is joined by top sports betting experts Allan Bell, Emory Hunt and Chip Patterson on the Early Edge podcast, powered by SportsLine. Get highlighted plays for college football, the NFL and the CFL. You can stream the show live every morning on the SportsLine YouTube page.

Emory's got all sorts of college football plays, as usual. First, for Friday's games, Emory's on East Carolina +3 vs. BYU (8:00 p.m. ET). "East Carolina can run the heck out of the ball," he says. "Their defense, I can trust more than BYU's defense right now." He's also playing Louisiana Tech -6.5 vs. FIU (8:00 p.m. ET). "FIU will get drummed in this ballgame," Emory says. In the Ivy League, he's taking Over 41.5 in Columbia vs. Yale (6:30 p.m. ET). "It's a pivotal game for both teams," Emory says. "Columbia's trying to win their first Ivy League game this season. Look for this to go back and forth."

In the CFL, Emory's playing BC Lions +3.5 vs. Winnipeg Blue Bombers (8:00 p.m. ET). He likes that the Lions are getting their starting quarterback back for this game, and that Winnipeg should be sitting a number of starters.

Chip's playing tonight's ECU game too. He's taking Over 30.5 on ECU's team total, as he has no confidence in BYU's defense and expects the Pirates to run wild.

Allan's playing the first game of the World Series tonight (8:03 p.m. ET). He's taking -150 odds on both the Astros and Phillies to score at least two runs. "What we know about these two teams is that they're mashing," Allan says.

For Saturday's action, Emory's once again playing the Fordham game. He's taking Under 73.5 in the Rams' game with Holy Cross (1:00 p.m. ET). He thinks the total is far too high and based entirely on Fordham's high-octane offense, without any consideration for Holy Cross' elite defense. He's also playing Under 51.5 in Jackson State vs. Southern (2:00 p.m. ET). "This game will be fought in the trenches," Emory says. As always, FCS lines are usually available on sportsbooks on Saturday morning if you're looking to run with Emory's picks.

Chip's playing Under 56.5 in Florida vs. Georgia (3:30 p.m. ET), the marquee SEC game of the week. "This is a lookahead spot for the Georgia Bulldogs," he says. "[They've] got Tennessee on deck." He's also taking Under 41 in Minnesota vs. Rutgers (2:30 p.m. ET). "Minnesota's defense needs a bounce-back," Chip says. "What better opponent than the Rutgers Scarlet Knights?" His final play is Wake Forest -3.5 vs. Louisville (3:30 p.m. ET). "This line is way too little. I don't care it's on the road," he says.
