Today's picks: Why Phillies will beat Braves, plus more MLB and tennis picks for Friday, July 23

SportsLine's top experts spotlight their favorite bets on the Early Edge podcast for Friday, July 23

Jonathan Coachman brings in his favorite sports betting experts, Mike McClure, Justin Perri and Larry Hartstein on the Early Edge podcast, powered by SportsLine. Get the best plays for Major League Baseball, the Croatian Open and ATP Los Cabos Open for Friday, July 23.

Mike takes his first look at Olympic tennis, and has legitimate concerns about Novak Djokovic and Daniil Medvedev. Larry issues a primer and reminder on making distinctions between SportsLine expert and site plays.

The Coach reveals the SportsLine Play of the Day from the site, highlighting the Yankees +1.5 over the Red Sox at 7:10 p.m. ET. This is a rare chance to take advantage of Gerrit Cole and the Yankees in an underdog spot.

Mike then takes us back to the Croatian Open, where he is taking Dusan Lajovic in straight sets over Daniel Altmaier at +150 at 1 p.m. ET. This is another big mismatch for Lajovic, who will be aggressive against the young Altmaier. In the ATP Los Cabos Open, he is on Cameron Norrie over Taylor Fritz at -145 at 9:30 p.m. ET. Fritz is coming off a controversial win and now faces a different challenge vs, the left-handed Norrie.

Justin delivers a deluxe package of four MLB plays, including the Rangers +180 at half of a unit at 8:10 p.m. ET. Houston is struggling and Texas may be able to steal one here at a good price. He also shares his picks for Diamondbacks-Cubs, Tigers-Royals and Rockies-Dodgers on Friday.

Feeling even more confident about his selection knowing that one of the site's top experts is also rising with it, Larry is taking the Phillies -153 over the Braves at 7:05 p.m. ET. "Zack Wheeler has faced the Braves three times, and has a 1.37 ERA," he says. "Max Fried is going for the Braves and the Phils hit lefties better. The Phillies have lost three in a row, this is their ace, and I think he's going to stop the skid. Fried also has a 6.43 ERA on the road."
