Texas vs. Michigan odds, line: Advanced computer college football model releases spread pick for Saturday's showdown

SportsLine's projection model has generated selections for the matchup between the No. 3 Longhorns and No. 10 Wolverines

Two of the most storied programs in college football -- and College Football Playoff participants from last season -- will collide on Saturday when the No. 3 Texas Longhorns and No. 10 Michigan Wolverines square off at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor, Mich. The Wolverines are the winningest program in college football history with 1,005 wins, while the Longhorns are tied for fourth with 949. Last season Michigan won the CFP national championship, while Texas lost in the CFP semifinals, one win shy of facing the Wolverines in the title game.

Kickoff is scheduled for noon ET. The Longhorns are 6.5-point favorites in the latest Texas vs. Michigan odds, while the over/under for total points scored is 41.5. (See up-to-date odds for every game this week on our college football odds page.)

Before making any Michigan vs. Texas picks or college football predictions, you NEED to see the predictions from the SportsLine Projection Model.

The model simulates every FBS college football game 10,000 times. Since its inception, it has generated a profit of over $2,000 for $100 players on its top-rated college football picks against the spread. It is also coming off a profitable 13-9 season on top-rated spread picks. Anyone who has followed it has seen strong returns.

The model knows that the Longhorns have a significant edge at quarterback. Quinn Ewers is in his third season as Texas' starter, winning 17 of his 23 career starts and passing for 40 touchdowns against just 13 interceptions. Last season he averaged 296.2 yards of total offense per game, which is the best among all returning SEC quarterbacks in 2024. By contrast, Michigan's two quarterbacks, Davis Warren and Alex Orji, have combined for only one career start: last week against Fresno State.

The model also knows that the Wolverines have arguably the country's best defensive tackle duo in Mason Graham and Kenneth Grant. A 6-foot-3, 320-pound junior, Graham has made 67 tackles in his career, including 10 tackles for loss and five sacks. He was named to the AP preseason all-America first-team defense. Meanwhile Grant, a 6-foot-3, 339-pound junior, made 29 tackles last season, including five tackles for loss and three sacks. Early 2025 NFL Draft projections have both Graham and Grant as first-round picks.

For Saturday, the model has set its sights on Texas vs. Michigan. We can tell you it is leaning Over the total, projecting a combined 50 points. It also says one side of the spread hits in almost 60% of simulations. You ABSOLUTELY need to see it before locking in any college football picks.
