Super Bowl LIV 49ers vs. Chiefs odds: Total has risen to 54 points
The total for Super Bowl LIV already has risen as much as 2.5 points at some sportsbooks.

William Hill opened the total for Super Bowl LIV between the San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs with an Over-Under of 51.5 points, but that number already has been bet up to 54 points at the sportsbook. The game is Feb. 2 from Hard Rock Stadium in Miami. For the most part, the spread hasn't moved with Kansas City a 1-point favorite on the NFL odds.
Wouldn't it be ironic if Super Bowl 54 finished with a total of 54? Keep in mind that totals can vary by sportsbook. Doing some research, some lists have no Super Bowl finishing with that exact total. Others have Super Bowl XXIX finishing at 54. That featured the 49ers beating the San Diego Chargers 49-26 behind six touchdown passes from Steve Young. That game also was played in Miami. Those 49ers were also 13-3 in the regular season and finished as the NFC's top seed. That was the first Super Bowl in which both teams scored in all four quarters.
It's not uncommon for the public to bet "offense" and push the total up early on a big football game – it happened in the Clemson-LSU national championship matchup too. Then many times, the sharps will come in late and bet the total down.
Last year at SB LIII, the total finished at 55.5 and the New England Patriots beat the Los Angeles Rams 13-3. The game was 3-3 entering the fourth quarter so there was never any question the Under was going to be the winning play.Â
