Rangers vs. Lightning odds, line: Hockey expert reveals picks for Friday's Stanley Cup playoffs game

NHL insider Matt Severance has made his picks for Friday's Game 2 matchup between the Tampa Bay Lightning and the New York Rangers in the Stanley Cup playoffs' Eastern Conference Final

The 2022 Stanley Cup playoffs continues on Friday as the New York Rangers host the Tampa Bay Lightning in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Final. Tempers flared in Game 1 on Wednesday after the Rangers pulled ahead in the second frame thanks to back-to-back goals from Filip Chytil. Frank Vatrano, Artemi Panarin and Mika Zibanejad also had multi-point games for New York en route to the home team securing a 6-2 victory at Madison Square Garden. But Steven Stamkos and the defending Stanley Cup champions aren't going to go down without a fight, which makes Friday's matchup a battle you won't want to miss.

Puck drop at Madison Square Garden is set for 8 p.m. ET. The Lightning are listed as the -130 favorites (risk $130 to win $100) on the 60-minute money line in the latest Rangers vs. Lightning odds from Caesars Sportsbook, while the Rangers are the +110 underdogs. The over-under for goals is set at 5.5 (see the latest lines for every game on our NHL odds page).

Before making any Hurricanes vs. Rangers picks, you NEED to see the latest NHL predictions from the SportsLine hockey insider Matt Severance.

Severance is a well-connected writer and handicapper who has worked in the industry since 2005. He's SportsLine's top NHL handicapper, going 130-67-4 in his last 202 NHL picks, returning almost $2,700 for $100 players.

Severance knows the defending Cup champs are going to do everything in their power to keep from going into an 0-2 hole on the series. Tampa Bay was rusty in Game 1 after such a long layoff between playoff series, to the point that even starting goaltending Andrei Vasilevskiy couldn't save them. But Jon Cooper's club is notorious for rebounding after rare losses and they will aim to prove on Friday that Game 2 is no exception to that.

That isn't to say the Rangers are going to roll over, especially not in front of their home crowd. New York's special teams continue to be one of their biggest keys to success, and they scored another power-play goal in Game 1. There is also netminder Igor Shesterkin, who continues to be one of New York's best players night in and night out.

Now, Severance has set his sights on Lightning vs. Rangers and we can tell you he's leaning Under on the total. He's also found a critical x-factor that has him jumping all over one side of the money line! You ABSOLUTELY need to see it before locking in any NHL picks of your own.
