A spot in the Sweet 16 will be on the line when the Providence Friars and Richmond Spiders square off in the second round of the 2022 NCAA Tournament on Saturday at the KeyBank Center in Buffalo, N.Y. The Friars (26-5) advanced to the second round with a 66-57 victory over South Dakota State on Thursday. Meanwhile the Spiders (24-12) pulled off one of the bigger upsets of the first round by knocking off No. 5 seed Iowa.

Tipoff is set for 6:10 p.m. ET. The Friars are favored by 3.5 points in the latest Providence vs. Richmond odds from Caesars Sportsbook, while the Over/Under for total points scored is 134. (See up-to-date odds for every game this week on our college basketball odds page.)

Before making any Richmond vs. Providence or NCAA Tournament picks, be sure to check out what the SportsLine Projection Model has to say.

The SportsLine Projection Model simulates every Div. I college basketball game 10,000 times. Over the past five-plus years, the proprietary computer model has generated an impressive profit of almost $1,500 for $100 players on its top-rated college basketball picks against the spread. Anyone who has followed it has seen HUGE returns.

The model knows that Providence figures to have a significant edge on the boards. The Friars entered the NCAA Tournament as the third best rebounding team in the Big East, outrebounding opponents by 3.0 rebounds per game. On Thursday they outrebounded South Dakota State by nine. By contrast, Richmond ranks 303rd in the country in rebounding margin (-3.2 rebounds per game).

The model also knows that Richmond has one of the nation's best defenders in Jacob Gilyard. A 5-foot-9 guard from Kansas City, Mo., Gilyard leads Div. I in steals per game (3.09) and has led the country in steals in each of the previous two seasons. His 466 career steals are the most by any player in Div. I history.

Now, the model has set its sights on the NCAA Tournament and Providence vs. Richmond. We can tell you it is leaning Over the total, predicting a combined 140 points, and it also says one side of the spread covers in well over 50 percent of simulations! You ABSOLUTELY need to see it before locking in any college basketball picks.
