Online sportsbook releases odds for where AJ McCarron signs

Bengals quarterback AJ McCarron is set to hit the free agent market this offseason. BetDSI has released odds for where the untested QB will land.

AJ McCarron's biggest professional win came off the field this offseason.

The former national title-winning quarterback at Alabama turned Cincinnati Bengals backup filed and won a grievance against the Bengals this offseason that allows him to be an unrestricted free agent as opposed to restricted

In short, he'll have complete control of his 2018 destination with the Bengals now unable to match any offers that come in.

And while McCarron is largely unproven -- appearing in just 10 career games and completing 86 of 113 passes for 920 yards, six touchdowns and two picks -- there's always a market for a potentially productive quarterback in the NFL. A QB-needy team will sign him, and possibly overpay, in hopes of finding the next Jimmy Garoppolo, while also looking to avoid getting the next Brock Osweiler.

An online sportsbook has revealed odds for where McCarron will land once free agency officially opens on March 14.

Where will AJ McCarron play in Week 1 of 2018? (via BetDSI.com)

Cleveland Browns +250 (bet $100 to gain $250)
    Denver Broncos +300
    Arizona Cardinals +350
    Buffalo Bills +500
    Miami Dolphins +750
    New York Jets +1000
    Minnesota Vikings +1250
    Field +200

PICK: McCarron is a tricky pick because it isn't entirely clear what he is.

Is he worth investing in as a franchise QB? Is he a bridge quarterback for a young star-in-waiting? Is he only a backup, like he's been to Andy Dalton the past few years in Cincinnati?

The market will answer what teams think of that questions, so this will be one of the more intriguing free agent situations to watch this offseason.

With all that in mind, I like Arizona at +350 as the best value on the list.

There's no starting quarterback on that current roster, there might not be enough cap room to take a serious run at Kirk Cousins and their draft pick, No. 15 overall, is high enough to hunt for a quarterback of the future, but maybe not one polished enough to start right away.

SPORTSLINE: THE MOST-LIKELY CAP CUTS FOR EVERY NFC TEAM

That gives McCarron the opportunity to compete for a starting job immediately on a team coming off a competitive 8-8 season that features David Johnson, Larry Fitzgerald and several All-Pro caliber defenders.

Back the Cardinals to sign him to a front-loaded deal allows a chance to prove he can be the man, but gives Arizona some options if he isn't.
