Odds released for where Mike Glennon signs

The Bears are moving on from Mike Glennon after just one year in Chicago. Here's what's next for the $45 million man.

Mike Glennon was never supposed to be the future in Chicago. But it didn't take the Bears long to make him part of the past.

Chicago GM Ryan Pace announced on Wednesday that the Bears will cut ties with Glennon just one year into his three-year, $45 million contract that he signed last offseason.

The Bears undoubtedly overpaid for the former Tampa Bay Buccaneers signal caller, but they will save in the neighborhood of $11 million going forward by making this move official once free agency opens on March 14.

And while they were hoping Glennon would be an effective bridge to rookie Mitch Trubisky, Chicago can take solace in the fact that Trubisky, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, showed enough promise in 2017 to make Glennon, who went 1-3 as a starter, expendable.

Chicago now moves forward with Trubisky entrenched as the starter, while the rest NFL just got a new intriguing quarterback option set to hit the market in March. The SportsLine oddsmakers have broken down what's next for the former $45 million man right here:

Where will Mike Glennon play in 2018?

    Bucs +250 (Wager $100 to gain $250)
    Cardinals +300
    Bills +400
    Browns +400
    Vikings +500
    Denver +500
    Titans +600
    Bengals +800
    Patriots +1,000
    Field +400

The pick: Perhaps a team with no set starter takes a flyer on Glennon to be part of the competition, but I'm pegging him as nothing more than a backup at this point in his career.

A return to Tampa Bay is something NFL insiders have predicted in the past, and that's why the Bucs are favored. That pick makes sense, but I like the value of the Titans at +600.

They have some cap room to work with and need a serviceable backup for the often banged up Marcus Mariota. GM Jon Robinson overlapped with Glennon in Tampa Bay, so there's some familiarity there too.

Go with Tennessee as the Titans finally secure a better No. 2 option than Matt Cassel.
