Odds for where James Harrison plays in 2018

James Harrison will reportedly wait until after the NFL Draft to sign another contract. These are the teams that could be in play.

After joining the New England Patriots late in the 2017 season and getting another taste of the Super Bowl, outside linebacker James Harrison would like to give it another go.

Based on a recent report from ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, it's safe to make a few assumptions about what's next for the potential Hall of Fame pass rusher: 1. He's interested in a return to New England; 2. Playing time is a huge factor, virtually eliminating a reunion in Pittsburgh since he left the Steelers because of a lack of it; 3. He'll wait until after the NFL Draft to find his next home.

Those are some solid clues for what's next for the soon-to-be 40-year old free agent, but, just like when he was released from Pittsburgh last year, there will still be plenty of speculation about where the five-time Pro Bowler will land.

And while he's well past his Pro Bowl prime, Harrison showed with New England that he's capable of providing some situational push off the edge if given the chance.

SportsLine's oddsmakers have evaluated the field and revealed their initial favorites to land Harrison before the 2018 season:

Where will James Harrison play Week 1 in 2018?

    Patriots 2/1
    Lions 5/1
    Titans 7/1
    Chiefs 8/1
    Rams 10/1
    Field 6/1

    Retire/no team 6/1

PICK: We'll start with some process of elimination. The Titans have become New England South this offseason, but a veteran pass rusher isn't a high priority with Derrick Morgan and Brian Orakpo still under contract.

CBS SPORTS: PATRIOTS IN THE MARKET FOR A QB IN DRAFT

Former Pats' DC Matt Patricia is in Detroit now, but his time with Harrison was limited, so there isn't a tight connection. The Lions are far from a playoff lock anyhow, so Harrison might not be interested.

The Pats remain the best choice, even at 2/1, but if you're feeling bold, the Chiefs at 8/1 and Rams at 10/1 are intriguing options as well.
