Oakland Raiders Shooting Up Super Bowl Odds Board

Fresh off a beatdown of the division rival Denver Broncos, the Oakland Raiders have seen their odds to win the Super Bowl slashed dramatically.

Following a dominating 30-20 win over the defending AFC West champs, the Oakland Raiders are shooting up Super Bowl odds boards.

At BookMaker.eu, the Silver and Black are now 11/1 to win the AFC (down from 17/1 last week) and 20/1 to win the Super Bowl (compared to 32/1 last week).

The Raiders (7-2) lead the AFC West with the Chiefs (6-2), Broncos (6-3) and Chargers (4-5) in hot pursuit.

Oakland opened at +2750 (27.5/1) to win the AFC back in April. By May, they were +1750, and in June, the odds were +1550.

The Raiders -- whose last winning season came in 2002 -- opened at 55/1 to hoist the Lombardi Trophy.

"The Raiders were a trendy team going into this season and we took a good bit of action on their Super Bowl futures odds," said BookMaker's Scott Cooley. "We had them at +240 to win the AFC West at the outset, so they weren't too far off from the Broncos and Chiefs, which came in at just under 2/1 odds (+200).

"Bettors love to back the Raiders, more so than any team in the division," Cooley continued. "They have fans everywhere and apparently the Las Vegas contingent has exploded. It's an up-and-coming, quality team no doubt.

"Do they have enough to win the conference or Super Bowl? Probably not, but we're looking at a good young core that should continue to blossom in the coming years."

The Raiders rank fifth in the NFL in total offense (401.1) and scoring (27.2). They've put up at least 30 points all but four times this season and have failed to hit 20 only twice (at Titans, vs. Chiefs).

The Raiders have a bye this week. Their remaining schedule includes one road game against each division opponent and three games against sub-.500 teams at home:

  • vs. Texans (5-3)
  • vs. Panthers (3-5)
  • vs. Bills (4-5)
  • at Chiefs (6-2)
  • at Chargers (4-5)
  • vs. Colts (4-5)
  • at Broncos (6-3)
