NFL Week 9 power ratings for against the spread picks: What each Week 9 line should be, and where there's value

Get the edge over the sportsbooks in Week 9 and beyond by developing a power rating system to stay ahead of the lines

The toughest part for anyone building power ratings in Week 9 is figuring out how much to value Derrick Henry. On one hand, most people will tell you running back is largely one of the least important positions on the offense, and that's been reflected in where the position has mostly been drafted in recent years. On the other hand, Henry seems to be one of the rare players who is the exception to the rule, at times carrying his team (and defenders) to the promised land. So what do you do?

I ultimately chose to value him like Davante Adams, one of the best wide receivers in the league who was missing last week while on the COVID-19 list. While the market moved that line 2.5 points after the news that Adams was unlikely to play in the Thursday night showdown with the Cardinals, I made a 1.5-point adjustment. Since my line was Cardinals -4.5 prior to the news, they went from being a good value play at -3.5 to a stayaway at -6, and once the line moved to 6.5 (I made no adjustment for Allen Lazard), the Packers became a slight value.

What does that mean for the Titans? Well, they were +4 on the lookahead line for this week's matchup with the Rams. Now, the Rams are 7.5-point favorites. A small portion of that move is likely a result of the Rams trading for Von Miller, but again, it appears the market is overadjusting for the loss of a star non-quarterback.

I've analyzed every Week 8 performance and made adjustments to my power ratings. How far do the Saints fall after losing their starting quarterback for the season? Do the Jets climb out of the basement after a shocking win against the Bengals?

Read on to see my rating for all 32 teams, plus where I think the lines present the most value early in the week.
