NFL Week 8 power ratings for against the spread picks: What each Week 8 line should be, and where there's value

Two major storylines came out of Week 7 in the AFC: the Chiefs looking broken, and the Bengals appearing to be legitimate contenders. You'll probably hear more about how odd it is to see Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City offense struggle, but we should spend as much if not more time focusing on Cincinnati's success.

Before you write the Bengals off as a flash in the pan, note that they have the second-best point differential in the AFC and are tied for the fourth-best mark in that statistic in the entire league with the Rams, and that much of that differential came from a dominant performance in Baltimore against their biggest AFC North competition. That doesn't mean the Bengals are going to ultimately roll to the Super Bowl, but it's past time we move them from being a mid-tier team to inside the top 10 in our power ratings, where I've added a massive five points of value to their rating from last week. I'm typically much more conservative with those adjustments, but I have some major catching up to do with Cincinnati.
