We teaser players see those double-digit underdogs and imagine six additional points in our pocket. No way, we convince ourselves, that this team will get whipped as badly as the teaser spread suggests.

Last week, we took the bait.

The first one -- Houston plus 18.5 versus Cleveland -- hit as the Texans bowed by 10 points despite an injury to quarterback Tyrod Taylor. Atlanta got the same generous spot against Tampa Bay and trailed by a field goal after three periods. Alas, the Falcons' fourth quarter resembled the epically bad one in the Super Bowl loss to England, and they fell by 23 to the Bucs.

Monday night, Detroit led Green Bay by three at halftime, making the teaser line of 17 points seem golden. Oops. The Packers coasted by 18, thus covering the teaser spread by one.
