NFL Week 1 betting preview: Ravens-Chiefs ATS, Packers-Eagles total and more early picks from Jason La Canfora

NFL insider Jason La Canfora shares his initial picks and lines to watch for Week 1 of the 2024 NFL season.

Every August I repeat the same mantra to myself, over and over. And every September I violate it anyway.

As much as I vow to ease into the Week 1 betting schedule and be judicious and mindful of just how much the NFL changes from year to year and how little we really know about many of these teams, I end up spending more money and making more bets than I should. The sheer joy of having football back gets the best of me.

Well, not this year. Maybe, at least.

We finished our early bets season on an absolute heater that carried us through a torrid playoff run, and we got a jump start on the process this year. But we do want to take it slow to start and focus on a few specific games and try to drill down on some early-season trends. We anticipate these lines moving some as we get closer to kickoff, and with rosters basically set now we are comfortable wading in.
