Teams hit hard by the transfer portal meet when the Florida International Panthers meet the Texas-San Antonio Roadrunners in the First Responder Bowl on Friday night. FIU is coming off a 56-16 win at Sam Houston State on Nov. 29, while UTSA dropped a 27-24 decision to Army that same day. FIU (7-5), who finished tied for fourth in Conference USA at 5-3, have won four in a row. UTSA (6-6), who tied for sixth in the American Conference, have won two of three.

Both teams will be without multiple players due to injury or the transfer portal. The Panthers will be extremely shorthanded in the secondary as cornerbacks Mister Clark and Victor Evans, along with free safety Jessiah McGraw have all opted to transfer. The Roadrunners, meanwhile, could have up to 20 players out due to injury and the portal. Among those in the portal are nose tackle Chidera Otutu, starting cornerbacks K.K. Meier and Davin Martin, and defensive ends Kenny Ozowalu and Daemian Wimberly.

Kickoff from Gerald J. Ford Stadium in Dallas is at 8 p.m. ET. The all-time series is tied at 2-2, with UTSA posting a 30-10 win in their last meeting in 2022. The Roadrunners are 6.5-point favorites in the latest FIU vs. UTSA odds, while the over/under for total points scored is 59.5 via SportsLine consensus.
