Notre Dame QB DeShone Kizer made waves late last week, telling USA Today, "Imagine taking [Tom] Brady's intellect and Brady's preparation and putting it on a guy with Cam Newton's body. Why can't I be the greatest?"

    Drop the mic.

Kizer said the comments were taken out of context, but whatever the case may be, he'll be one of the centerpieces of the 2017 NFL Draft.

CBS SPORTS: BRIAN KELLY SAYS KIZER SHOULD HAVE RETURNED TO NOTRE DAME

Kizer had 26 touchdowns and 2,925 yards passing for 4-8 Notre Dame last season, including five in the season opener, but was inconsistent. In fact, Malik Zaire replaced him at times.

Kizer also recorded 18 rushing touchdowns over the last two seasons and is a dynamic threat in the red zone.

"He has the arm talent and willingness to challenge safeties on both intermediate and deep throws," NFL.com said. "He has a powerful grip, allowing for aggressive pump-fakes to move the defense around."

NFL.com also said Kizer "showed dreadful lapses in judgment that led to interceptions" and "can be too reliant upon arm strength over mechanics."

Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly said his former QB could benefit from staying in South Bend for another season.

And CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora said Kizer might slip out of the first round "with execs not sold on his attitude and maturity." His CBS Sports draft projection is the first to second round.

BookMaker.eu released odds on which round Kizer will be selected and what team will call his name.

Kizer is a -125 favorite to go in the second round, meaning you'd have to wager $125 to win $100.

He's 3/2, to go in the first round and almost 3/1 to be selected in any round after the second.

The team that's most likely to draft him, according to BookMaker.eu, is the Cleveland Browns, whose revolving door at QB last season included Josh McCown and Robert Griffin III.

Kizer is +215 to be drafted by Cleveland, meaning you'd win $215 on a $100 bet.

Kizer is +325 to go to the Arizona Cardinals, or slightly worse than 3/1. The Cardinals are looking for the QB of the future with Carson Palmer likely to retire after this season, and Kizer could benefit from a season under his mentorship.

The Kansas City Chiefs are 4/1 to land Kizer. Led by Alex Smith, the Chiefs could use a dual-threat like Kizer, who, according to CBS Sports, has "no fear when it comes to making tough, aggressive throws."

The Houston Texans traded QB Brock Osweiler to the Browns in a salary dump and are 8/1 to get Kizer. They already have a strong defense and appear to be just a QB away from a Super Bowl run.

Any other team – called the field – is a -200 favorite.
