NFL 2023 Week 7 lookahead lines, picks: Three games to bet a week early from proven NFL expert

One team was off last weekend and thus unable to impact its lookahead line. The other was boarding a plane home from London after an 11-day, two-game stay there and might confront a touch of fatigue this week.

We suspected that the lookahead spreads for Cleveland and Jacksonville would move in favor of their opponents in Week 6. With the Browns idled, an emphatic win by San Francisco over Dallas would trigger a shift. And with the betting public realizing the Jaguars might need to adjust after returning from a lengthy overseas visit, the spread for their game could gravitate toward division rival Indianapolis.

Both happened.

The 49ers gutted the Cowboys, prompting a major line change from -3 to -5.5 for their game in Cleveland. It had seemed illogical that, in the lookaheads, the league's premier team would be allowing a mere field goal to the mediocre Browns. The Jags were homeward bound in a buoyant mood, having knocked off Buffalo to complete a 2-0 straight-up stand in England. Yet the Colts also pulled a mini-upset, taking down Tennessee. 

Another injury to rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson had little impact on the spread, given that backup Gardner Minshew is 3-1 in an Indianapolis uniform. We also anticipated a lift for the Colts when ace tailback Jonathan Taylor ended his holdout, and his workload should increase from 10 snaps in the season debut.

The line on our third lookahead pick from last week is unchanged. Denver was and remains a 10.5-point underdog Thursday at Kansas City.
