NFL 2023 Week 4 lookahead lines, picks: Three games to bet a week early from proven NFL expert

The goal with our NFL lookahead picks — selecting teams based on odds in the week prior to the games — is to lock down a line before it might move in an unfavorable direction. Of our three choices on the Week 3 schedule, all now carry spreads that are less advantageous than when we grabbed them.

We secured New England -1.5 against the Jets, predicated on a projected poor offensive showing by New York minus quarterback Aaron Rodgers against Dallas. Bingo. The line as of Wednesday morning sits at -2.5 after the Cowboys' 30-10 win.

The Tennessee Titans were appealing at +5 against Cleveland. The spread was set following the worst game in Titans QB Ryan Tannehill's long, non-illustrious career. For Tannehill, the only way was up. Sure enough, in the wake of Tennessee's upset of the Los Angeles Chargers -- and Browns running back Nick Chubb's season-ending injury -- the line dwindled to three.

The biggest shift involved our other pick, the Los Angeles Rams. We nailed them down at +7.5 versus Cincinnati. It's down to +2, in part owing to the uncertain status of ailing Bengals QB Joe Burrow.
