Nets vs. 76ers Game 2 NBA playoff odds, trends: Bettors backing Philly again Monday, Spencer Dinwiddie Over 16.5 points

The 76ers look for a 2-0 series lead Monday over the Brooklyn Nets.

The Philadelphia 76ers took heavy action as 8.5-point home favorites against the Brooklyn Nets in Game 1 of their Eastern Conference series and easily covered in a 121-101 victory on Saturday. The Sixers are up to -9.5 for Game 2 Monday night at the Wells Fargo Center, but still taking big action on the spread at BetMGM, although the most-wagered player prop is on Brooklyn guard Spencer Dinwiddie. As of this writing, 62% of the tickets and 82% of the money are on Philly against the spread in Game 2. The total has dropped from 215.5 points to 213.5, but 73% of the bets and 62% of the money are on the Over. The Nets are 6-0 to the Over in their past six following a loss.

Likely regular-season MVP Joel Embiid was rather quiet (by his standards) in Game 1 with 26 points and five rebounds in 33 minutes, his fewest rebounds in a game this season. The Nets were trying to make the other Philly players beat them by doubling Embiid. Other players did indeed beat the Nets, as James Harden had 23 points and 13 assists and Tobias Harris scored 21.

The Sixers made a playoff franchise-record 21 3-pointers. They shot 48.8% from downtown (21-for-43) and 100% from the foul line (16-for-16), marking just the second time in franchise history that the team shot at least 45.0% from deep and 100% from the free throw line in the postseason (May 16, 2001). The 76ers now have won five straight playoff games vs. the Nets dating to April 15, 2019.

It's not as if the Nets didn't shoot well in Game 1. They were at .557 from the field and buried 13-of-29 (.448) from deep, but the 76ers took 19 more shots, thanks to forcing the Nets into 20 turnovers (which became 31 76ers points) while only committing nine turnovers themselves. After the trade deadline, Brooklyn was 9-1 when making at least 15 3-pointers and 4-14 when making fewer than 15.

Mikal Bridges led the Nets with 30 points in Game 1, while Cameron Johnson had 18. They were two pieces that came back from the Suns in the Kevin Durant trade. Dinwiddie had 14 points on 5-for-12 shooting, and him going Over 16.5 points at -115 is the most-wagered player prop Monday, followed by Embiid Over 32.5 points (-115) and Harden Over 20.5 points (-110).
