The Phoenix Suns welcome the Orlando Magic in a game between teams with losing records on Friday night, but it's an intriguing matchup simply to see what stellar red-hot Suns shooting guard Devin Booker might do as he could tie none other than Michael Jordan for one scoring mark with a big night. Tipoff is 9 p.m. ET from Talking Stick Resort Arena in Phoenix with the Suns favored on the NBA odds.

Phoenix is nine games under .500 at 14-23 and rarely on national television so perhaps the casual NBA fan isn't aware well Booker has been playing for the past couple of weeks. In Tuesday's 114-103 loss to the Kings in which Phoenix blew a 21-point third-quarter lead, Booker finished with a game-high 34 points.

It was the 77th career 30-point game for the 23-year-old Booker, a No. 13 overall pick out of Kentucky in 2015. That total is the third-most by any NBA guard before turning 24 – Booker won't until October 30, 2020 – and just one behind Michael Jordan's second-best mark of 78. To be fair, Jordan didn't enter the NBA until after his junior season at North Carolina while Booker left Kentucky after one year. Still, an impressive feat. The record for most 30-ponit games before the age of 24 is by Hall of Famer Oscar Robertson with 102.

In addition, Booker has set a Suns record with seven straight 30-point games, averaging 34.7 points on 54.8 percent shooting in that stretch. He's just the sixth player since the NBA/ABA merger in 1976-77 with a seven-game streak of at least 30 points. The others to do it were LeBron James (three), Tracy McGrady (three), Kevin Durant (two), Jordan (two) and John Drew.

In the past seven years, only three other NBA players have produced at least a seven-game streak of at least 30 points: Former MVPs James Harden, Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant. The last time Booker was held under 30 was on Dec. 23 vs. Denver when he had just 11 on 3-for-12 shooting.

Will Booker keep it going Friday? Phoenix visited Orlando on Dec. 4 and lost 128-114 with Booker finishing with 17 points on 7-for-16 shooting. Booker has played seven games in his career vs. the Magic and is averaging only 14.0 points.

The Suns have lost their past three in the series at home as well. In fact, Phoenix has covered just one of its past 10 in the desert vs. Orlando and that ATS win was in March 2014.
