By@SportsLinePublished: Mar 15, 2024 2:25PM UTC . 2 min read

The top-seeded Purdue Boilermakers (28-3) square off against the eighth-seeded Michigan State Spartans (19-13) in the quarterfinals of the 2024 Big Ten Tournament on Friday at noon ET at the Target Center in Minneapolis. Purdue is a 7.5-point favorite in the latest Michigan State vs. Purdue odds via SportsLine consensus, while the over/under for total points scored is 142.5 (see up-to-date odds for every game this week on our college basketball odds page).

Before making any Michigan State vs. Purdue picks, you need to check out the college basketball predictions from the SportsLine Projection Model.

The model simulates every Division I college basketball game 10,000 times. It enters 2024 conference championship week on a 145-104 roll on all top-rated college basketball picks dating back to last season, returning more than $1,700 for $100 players. It also has a strong 28-18 (+820) record on top-rated spread picks this season. Anyone following has seen HUGE returns!

The model knows the Boilermakers are led by back-to-back Big Ten Player of the Year Zach Edey. The senior center is averaging 24.2 points, 11.7 rebounds, 2.2 blocks and two assists in 31 games, all starts. He is coming off a 25-point, 14-rebound, three-assist and three-block performance in a 78-70 win over Wisconsin on Sunday. He holds the school record for most consecutive double-figure scoring games at 82 and double-doubles with 61.

The model also knows Spartans senior guard Tyson Walker has been red hot of late. He poured in 15 points, while adding four assists and three rebounds in Thursday's win over Minnesota. He had 30 points and three assists in a 65-64 loss at Indiana on Sunday. In the lone meeting against Purdue this season, he scored 14 points, while adding seven rebounds and four assists.

Now, the model has set its sights on Michigan State vs. Purdue. We can tell you the model is leaning Over on the point total, and it also says one side of the spread hits in nearly 60% of simulations!
