Lakers vs. Warriors Thursday NBA playoffs Game 2 odds, trends, props: Heavy money on Golden State to cover spread, Kevon Looney's rebound total

In Game 1 of the Western Conference semifinals vs. the Los Angeles Lakers, the Golden State Warriors tied their playoff franchise records for 3-pointers made (21) and attempted (53). They outscored L.A. by 45 points from behind the 3-point arc -- and still lost 117-112. That's not supposed to happen in the modern-day NBA. Game 2 is set for Thursday night in San Francisco, and the Warriors are 6.5-point favorites at BetMGM to tie the series, which many bettors expect. Click here for model picks.

How unusual was it that Golden State made 15 more triples in Game 1 and lost? The Warriors had been 13-0 in franchise history when making 15 more threes than their opponent, winning those games by an average of 22.6 points. Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Jordan Poole all made at least six 3-pointers, the first trio in NBA history with six threes each in a playoff game. Poole missed a late 28-footer, which would have tied the game.

Since 2015, the Warriors are 26-9 (.743) following a playoff loss. They opened at -4.5 for Thursday but are now -6.5 with 76% of the bets and 82% of the money on Golden State to cover. On the total of 227.5 points, 60% of the bets and 59% of the money are on the Over. At +160 on they moneyline, L.A. is taking 65% of the bets and 57% of the money.

Tuesday was only the fifth series-opening loss for Steve Kerr's Warriors, but their second this postseason. The Warriors have won three of the previous four series. They are now +145 underdogs (L.A. is -175) but are taking 68% of money to win the series.  The Lakers have won 25 straight series after winning Game 1. They did win Game 1 on the road in the last round vs. Memphis, but twere subsequently trounced in Game 2.

The bets player in Game 1 was Anthony Davis, who posted a historic line of 30 points, 23 rebounds, five assists and four blocks, joining Tim Duncan (2013) as the only  player with at least with 30 points, 20 rebounds, five assists and three blocks in a playoff game. Davis played a whopping 44 minutes, including all of the second half. Might he be a bit gassed?

One of the heaviest player prop leans tonight is on Davis Under 26.5 points at -110 tonight, with the other two on Warriors: Kevon Looney Over 13.5 rebounds (-135) and Poole Over 14.5 points (-115). Looney has morphed into Wilt Chamberlain on the boards -- he had 23 rebounds in Game 1, his most in a regular season or playoff game. Looney has had four 20-rebound games in this year's playoffs, the fifth-most in a single postseason in Warriors history. He's averaging 16.1 RPG in postseason play.

There are no injury concerns for either team tonight. Davis and LeBron James are listed as probable, but that's nothing new.
