Knicks vs. Heat Wednesday NBA injury report, odds: Heat look to cover spread in back-to-back games first time in more than two months

The Miami Heat are in the midst of a very unusual ATS streak.

You may not be aware of it, but almost impossibly the Miami Heat have not covered the spread in back-to-back games since mid-January – and it's not like the Heat are a bad, tanking team. Miami is a borderline playoff contender in the East. The Heat just scored an ATS win in Detroit and look to end this unusual trend Wednesday as 1.5-point home favorites against the New York Knicks.

The last time Miami had back-to-back ATS wins was Jan. 12 and 14, both at home, in straight-up wins over the Milwaukee Bucks. Milwaukee played both games without Giannis Antetokounmpo. The Heat have had several ATS losing streaks since then, but not back-to-back ATS wins. Overall this season, Miami is just 10-23-3 ATS (28.6% -- worst in the NBA) after a straight-up win and 11-24-2 ATS overall at home (31.4% -- also worst in the NBA).

The Heat, who have won three straight at home (2-1 ATS), could be a bit short-handed tonight. Both point guard Kyle Lowry (11.8 points, 5.2 assists per game) and forward Caleb Martin (10.1 PPG, 4.9 RPG) are listed as questionable. Miami has won 24 games this season by five points or less, the most such victories during a season in team history and tied for the most such games in NBA history with the 1999-2000 Philadelphia 76ers.

New York isn't listing anyone on the injury report, which is pretty rare this time of year. The Knicks had a three-game winning streak snapped Monday in a 140-134 home loss to short-handed Minnesota despite a career-high 57 points from Julius Randle. That tied with Richie Guerin for the third-most in team history. Randle became the eighth Knicks player to top the 50-point mark in franchise history. He's set at O/U 26.5 points tonight.

The Knicks are 2-0 vs. the Heat this season, winning each by two points – most recently 122-120 in Miami on March 3. Randle averaged 33.0 PPG in those outings. There should be plenty of Knicks fans in attendance in South Florida, considering that it's Spring Break season in the Sunshine State.
