Jets vs. 49ers betting preview: Odds, picks, props, trends, injuries, weather and more for Week 1 Monday Night Football game

Before you lock in your plays for Monday's New York Jets at San Francisco 49ers NFL game, check out our full betting preview.

Week 1 of the 2024 NFL season concludes with a potential Super Bowl LIX preview and the return of Aaron Rodgers as his New York Jets visit the San Francisco 49ers, with the defending NFC champions as 3.5-point favorites and a total of 43.5. This will mark the first Week 1 matchup since the AFL/NFL merger in 1970 to feature the previous regular season's leader in yards per play (Niners) and opponents' yards per play leader (Jets).

Rodgers lasted only four offensive plays for the Jets in last year's Week 1 Monday night opener before going down with a season-ending torn Achilles' tendon. Technically, Rodgers got credit as the starting QB in that victory for New York and has now won 10 straight starts on Monday Night Football, one shy of tying former Raiders legend Ken Stabler for the longest such streak all-time. Rodgers grew up in the San Francisco Bay area and starred collegiately at Cal. Seven of the Jets' first 11 contests are standalone games simply because of Rodgers' superstar factor.

Perhaps no coach enters 2024 on a hotter seat than the Jets' Robert Saleh, who is +1200 to be the first NFL coach fired and has to deal with a media storm every week in New York. It's also a homecoming game of sorts for Saleh, as he was the 49ers' defensive coordinator from 2017-20, and his defensive coordinator, Jeff Ulbrich, was a Niners linebacker from 2000-09.

San Francisco had the third-best scoring offense in 2023 (28.9 PPG) and third-best scoring defense (17.5 PPG), the only team to rank in the NFL's top three in both. The Niners were 14-1 (including the playoffs) when Brock Purdy, Christian McCaffrey, Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk, George Kittle and Trent Williams were all healthy for an entire game, and that lone loss was the Super Bowl against Kansas City in overtime. Aiyuk and Williams had contract issues this summer but will play. McCaffrey is questionable but expected to go.
