Hector Fernandez takes control of new IGT under Apollo Global Management
Hector Fernandez has officially begun his tenure as CEO of IGT as new owner Apollo Global Management's choice to lead the prominent gaming supplier.
Former Aristocrat Gaming CEO Hector Fernandez has officially stepped into the same role with International Game Technology (IGT) one year after his resignation from Aristocrat and nearly simultaneous acceptance of the new gig with IGT. Fernandez will be at the helm of IGT as it operates as a holding of Apollo Global Management (AGM) in supplying content and other solutions to land-based and online gaming licensees around the world.
Fernandez takes over at interesting time for IGT
The AGM takeover for IGT is more than a simple shift to private ownership from being publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange. AGM's plan also included parsing out a piece of IGT's operations and merging the remainder with another supplier for many of the best online casinos, Everi.
As explained by a press release from AGM, IGT's lottery operations have continued to operate independently. The remainder of IGT's business, like providing online slots and other online casino games for real money to licensees in Michigan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia, was merged with Everi's operations of the same nature.
Combining those enterprises not only consolidated market share among gaming vendors but also greatly increased AGM's presence in the gaming industry. AGM has already been in the space via its acquisition of the operations of multiple casino properties like The Venetian in Las Vegas and the former management of software provider PlayAGS.
A press release from IGT states that AGM believes "the combined enterprise will accelerate growth, enhance product and content innovation, and become an even stronger partner to its customers."
IGT's broad services for players
