Golf Picks: WGC-Dell Match Play winners

With no daily fantasy game for this week's WGC Match Play evident in Austin, Texas, our Robby Kalland shares five golfers he'd throw a few bones down on at their current price.

The PGA Tour's best will be in action in Austin, Texas this week at the annual WGC-Dell Match Play event in a rare break from stroke play.

Of the 64 top players in the world rankings, 62 of them are in the field this week and they are playing in a format that we rarely see them in, which makes finding potential winners a bit tricky.

Current form is important, but we also want to look at who performs best in match play to find the best values -- luckily Adam Sarson has a great guide here for all 64 players' match play records as pros.

This is one of those events where I really don't like taking the very top guys on the board for value because of the unpredictability of the match play format, so we're sticking with the middle of the board for value picks.

With that in mind, here are my favorite values on the board this week. There's no daily fantasy games for the Match Play, only for the alternate field Puerto Rico Open this weekend, so I'm going to offer up five value picks this week instead of the normal four.

My Foursome (and one)

Paul Casey (30/1):  Casey has twice been runner-up at this event and has an all-time record of 20-10 in the WGC-Match Play. He's coming off of back-to-back top 10 finishes at the WGC-Cadillac and Arnold Palmer and his value at 30/1 is very strong, considering his quality match play record. Casey's group is tough with Jason Day, but if he can escape that he'll have a good path to quarters and beyond.

Danny Willett (33/1):  Willett finished third in this event last year and has a 7-1 match play record, the best on Sarson's list of match play records. He has three top 25s this season in three PGA Tour events, including a pair of top threes at the previous two WGC events. Really like his value here at 33/1.

Matt Kuchar (50/1):  Kuchar is 18-6 at the WGC-Match Play in his career, including a win in 2013. He's a strong match play performer and has been playing solid golf of late. I like his value at 50/1 in a group with Justin Rose.

J.B. Holmes (66/1):  Holmes has a solid 5-4 record in this event and I think it fits his game in that he can have the occasional big number on a hole and not have it derail his round like it would in stroke play. He can get hot and post a lot of birdies, which I think could bode well for him in the match play event. He's got to get by Bubba Watson in his group, but Watson isn't the strongest match play player.

Kiradech Aphibarnrat (100/1):  Aphibarnrat did not fare well in his first appearance at the Match Play, losing his lone match, but worldwide he has an 8-3-2 match play record. He's got a favorable group to get out of with Dustin Johnson and Jimmy Walker ahead of him, who both have sub-.500 records in match play, so look for Kiradech to make a little noise this week.
