Favorites To Sign Josh Gordon Emerge
YouWager.eu has released odds on which team mercurial wide receiver Josh Gordon plays for next.
The Cleveland Browns have finally reached the point of no return with wide receiver Josh Gordon and are set to trade or release him as soon as Monday. The 27-year-old wideout's well-documented drug suspensions, injuries and less than selfless play finally prompted the front office to cut the cord. Despite the off-field headaches, Josh Gordon remains a top-flight wideout who will likely be brought in by a franchise eager to improve its roster.

Against the Carolina Panthers on Week 1, the Cowboys offense played sluggishly and were unable to sustain drives. The Cowboys only mustered 232 yards while converting just 2 of 11 third-down opportunities. With no home-run threat to keep secondaries honest, Carolina defensive backs were emboldened to bump Dallas receivers off the line to throw off timing routes. Cole Beasley was the Cowboys' top receiver with seven grabs but they averaged just over 10 yards per attempt.Â
Dallas entered the season with high playoff aspirations and a head coach squatting on a hot seat. Don't be surprised to see the Cowboys finagle a deal for Gordon.
Of Jimmy Garoppolo's 15 completed passes against the Vikings, only eight went to receivers. Half of those were hauled in by second-year pro Trent Taylor, two were caught by rookie Dante Pettis and two by veteran Pierre Garcon. While the Niners have high hopes for Pettis and Taylor, they will need to put up bigger stats before opposing secondaries start breaking into a sweat. San Francisco has a playoff-caliber defense, but the offense is a step behind.
"Any other team" brings some value because of the Oakland Raiders. The jury is still out on their wide receiving corps. Tight end Jared Cook shredded the Rams last week for 180 yards and running back Jalen Richard had nine grabs out of the backfield. Oakland's leading receiver in both receptions (three) and yards (23) was Jordy Nelson. Amari Cooper, when healthy, is a deep threat, but he was only targeted three times. Seth Roberts is more of a possession receiver. The Raiders could try to pull the trigger on a deal, but it's hard to imagine Jon Gruden tolerating any of Gordon shenanigans.
Doug Baldwin being ruled out for the Bears game is yet another headache for Pete Carroll, who already has one of the weakest receiving corps in the league. Could Gordon be the answer in Seattle? If the 'Hawks start 0-2, it's very possible he might be their last chance to salvage the season. There's some value there at +600.
Despite the numerous training camp injuries and cuts to wideouts, the Patriots still have plenty of quality options for Tom Brady, especially when Julian Edelman return in Week 4. Don't expect Bill Belichick to change horses in midstream.
