Fantasy Football 2023: Proven expert reveals his Do Not Draft list
Fantasy analyst Jacob Gibbs shares his list of star players he expects to fail to live up to their draft value in 2023
Being right about which players to draft is a pretty important step towards winning in Fantasy football. If you hit on the must-have players for 2023 Fantasy, you should be well on your way to a Fantasy championship.
That being said, hitting on the must-have players doesn't necessarily guarantee you anything. Stepping on an early-round Fantasy landmine could blow up even the most stacked rosters. You may have heard the adage, "You won't win your draft in the early rounds, but you could lose it." Even if you land several awesome values in the later rounds, if your early round picks stink, you probably won't be winning anything.
SportsLine's Fantasy expert Jacob Gibbs has identified several potential early-round roster ruiners to avoid. Gibbs uses a data-driven approach that has helped him consistently provide accurate rankings. He has proven to be one of the nation's most accurate Fantasy rankers in recent years -- posting the eighth-most accurate results over the past few seasons, according to Fantasy Pros.
Now Gibbs has released his 2023 Do Not Draft List, exclusively to SportsLine members. We can tell you he is not into Deebo Samuel at his average draft position. "I could see Deebo Samuel bouncing back after a disappointing 2022, but there are several players being selected in a similar ADP range that I'd rather take. From a projections standpoint, Samuel stands out as clearly overvalued -- the target projection simply is not high enough for him as he competes with Christian McCaffrey, Brandon Aiyuk, and George Kittle for touches."
Samuel isn't the only wide receiver being selected in the top 24 who Gibbs included on his 'Do Not Draft' List. Two other early-round wideouts stand out as massive risks relative to the other players selected in the same range. Gibbs worries that investing such valuable draft capital into one of these wideouts with so many exciting breakout wide receivers available in the rounds that follow could prevent an otherwise fantastic team from finishing on top.
So which star wideouts could sink your roster's chances if you invest an early-round pick into them? And which of the "dead zone"Â mid-round RBs are you better off avoiding? ... Join SportsLine here to see the full Do Not Draft list from Jacob Gibbs for 2023!
