Chiefs vs. Ravens NFL Week 2 injury report, lines, spread: Marquise Brown, Ronnie Stanley in question; Patrick Mahomes odds to throw first September interception

The already injury-ravaged Ravens could be even more short-handed in their home opener Sunday vs. the Chiefs.

When the NFL schedule came on May 12, this Sunday night's Kansas City Chiefs at Baltimore Ravens matchup looked like potentially the AFC's most important-regular season game for a possible playoff tiebreaker between conference powerhouses. Now? The 0-1 Ravens are a shell of themselves with so many injuries and two more key players, All-Pro left tackle Ronnie Stanley and top wideout Marquise Brown, may sit. Kansas City is -3.5 at Caesars Sportsbook.

This is the first time Baltimore is at least 3.5-point home dog in a regular-season game since Oct. 1, 2017 against Pittsburgh -- thus, before Lamar Jackson arrived. The Ravens lost that 26-9 and are 1-4 ATAS in their past five as at least 3.5-point home dogs. They are looking to avoid their first 0-2 start under John Harbaugh since 2015. That club finished 5-11 for Harbaugh's only losing season.

The Ravens blew an early 14-0 lead Monday night in losing 33-27 in overtime at Las Vegas – they had been 81-0 under Harbaugh in regular-season games with at least a two-TD advantage. Baltimore played without several guys, including running backs JK Dobbins and Gus Edwards (both out for year) and receivers Rashod Bateman and Miles Boykin (both on IR). A total of 13 Baltimore players so far have been placed on injured reserve.

Stanley is one of the best and highest-paid offensive linemen in the game and a potential Hall of Famer, but he struggled mightily Monday and now reportedly is going to sit vs. the Chiefs and potentially longer with an ankle injury. Stanley is the only starter on the line returning to the same position he played last season.

Brown, meanwhile, has yet to practice this week with an ankle injury after dealing with a hamstring issue during camp. He had six catches on six targets for 69 yards vs. Las Vegas. Ravens players who miss three straight days of practice are typically not expected to play in that week's game, so Friday will be crucial for Brown.

This is the fourth straight season these teams have played and Patrick Mahomes is 3-0 against Jackson. Mahomes is an impossible 11-0 in his career in September with 35 passing scores and zero picks. Those 35 straight passing TDs without an interception is the longest streak in any month by any quarterback in NFL history.

Below, SportsLine offers odds on whether Mahomes will throw a pick this month – Kansas City, which is on a 15-game winning streak in this month overall, closes September with a home game next Sunday vs. the Chargers. The Ravens did intercept Derek Carr once Monday night, but Baltimore's secondary also has been shredded by injuries (Pro Bowler Marcus Peters is done for the year).

The Chiefs won Week 1 over Cleveland in a comeback but fell to 2-10 ATS in their past 12 games including playoffs, easily the NFL's worst mark since Week 9 of 2020. The Ravens 10-1 ATS in past 11 regular season games as underdogs anywhere.

Via SportsLine oddsmakers: Will Patrick Mahomes throw at least one September interception this year?
