The Washington Capitals will look to stay perfect in the NHL Stadium Series when they battle the Carolina Hurricanes in a Metropolitan Division matchup on Saturday. The Capitals (28-23-6), who have dropped six of nine, including three consecutive, were victorious in their previous Stadium Series appearance, a 5-2 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs at Annapolis, Maryland, in 2018. The Hurricanes (36-10-8), who hold a five-point edge over the New Jersey Devils in the division, are making their initial appearance in the Stadium Series. Carolina is coming off a 6-2 win over Montreal on Thursday, while Washington was beaten 6-3 at home against Florida. Alex Ovechkin (bereavement) is expected to miss the game for Washington.

The puck will drop at 8 p.m. ET at Carter-Finley Stadium in Raleigh, N.C. Carolina is a -205 favorite (risk $205 to win $100) on the money line in the latest Capitals vs. Hurricanes odds from Caesars Sportsbook, while the over/under for total goals scored is set at 5.5 (see the latest lines for every game on our NHL odds page).

Before making any Capitals vs. Hurricanes picks, you NEED to see the latest NHL predictions from the SportsLine Projection Model.

This model simulates every NHL game 10,000 times, taking into account factors like current form, individual matchups, injuries and short- and long-term trends when making NHL picks. The model seeks the best values on the money line, puck line and total.

The model knows center Sebastian Aho leads Carolina with 24 goals and 48 points, and is a plus-9 this season. He is coming off a big night against Montreal on Thursday, scoring a goal and adding an assist. The 25-year-old from Finland, has logged three goals and an assist over the past five games. He has registered two hat tricks on the year, including a three-goal performance in a 5-2 win at New York against the Islanders on Jan. 21.

Washington will look to counter with a big game from goalie Darcy Kuemper, who has a 2.63 GAA and a .914 save percentage. With Ovechkin out, center Evgeny Kuznetsov (45 points) and center Dylan Strome (37 points) will look to help pick up the offensive production.
