Bucs vs. Eagles Thursday NFL injury report, odds, spread: Bettors hammering Tampa Bay despite missing Rob Gronkowski, Lavonte David, Antoine Winfield

Tampa Bay will be down three starters – and Tom Brady is banged up – when it visits Philadelphia to kick off Week 6 in the NFL on Thursday.

In one of the most unusual NFL betting trends I can remember, Tom Brady has failed to cover the spread in 10 straight games that kick off at 7 p.m. ET or later. His Tampa Bay Bucs are 7-point favorites at the Philadelphia Eagles for tonight's 8:20 ET matchup to begin Week 6. Brady has a banged-up thumb on his throwing hand but will play, while Tampa Bay will be without tight end Rob Gronkowski, linebacker Lavonte David and safety Antoine Winfield Jr.

Despite those Bucs injuries, bettors at Caesars Sportsbook hammering Tampa Bay on the spread to the tune of 87 percent of all tickets and 78 percent of money wagered. On the total of 52.5, 70 percent of tickets is on Over and 51 percent of money.

Brady's 10-game ATS losing streak in prime-time games (Super Bowl 55 was not one because it kicked off at 6:20 ET last February) is the longest by far of any quarterback this century. Tampa Bay is 0-2 ATS on Thursday nights under Brady, winning in the final seconds in Week 1 this year vs. Dallas (as a 9-point favorite) and losing straight up last season in Chicago. The Bucs are also 4-6 ATS as road favorites under Brady and 0-2 this year. In 15 career starts on Thursday, Brady has averaged 298.8 passing yards per game.

Gronkowski has missed the past two games with injured ribs and there was never any shot of him returning on a short week. Gronk is still tied for seventh in the league with four TD catches despite having played only three games.

Tampa Bay's defense has been average overall this year but dominant against the run, allowing just 45.8 yards per game. David hurt his ankle in last Sunday's win over the Dolphins. The three-time All-Pro has 34 tackles and a sack. Winfield missed the Miami with a concussion. He has 25 tackles and a pick in four games.  Center Ryan Jensen and pass-rusher Jason Pierre-Paul are officially questionable but expected to play.

Philadelphia has won its past seven games played on Thursday, the longest active streak in the NFL, but will be missing Pro Bowl right tackle Lane Johnson and tight end Dallas Goedert. Johnson is dealing with a personal issue that also kept him out the past two. Since the Eagles drafted Johnson No. 4 overall in 2013, they are 59-43 when he starts and finishes (.573) a game and 10-14-1 when he doesn't (.420). It's no sure thing Johnson plays again in 2021.

Goedert landed on the COVID list Tuesday. There's a long-shot chance he's cleared to play but not likely. Goedert ranks third on the team in receiving yards (216) and is tied for first in receiving touchdowns (two).

The Eagles are 0-2 straight up and ATS at home this season and haven't started 0-3 SU at home in eight years.
