Best bets today: Warriors-Rockets best NBA play, plus more picks for MLB and NHL for May 4

There are two Game 7s on Sunday, May 4, including Warriors-Rockets, as well as 15 games on the MLB schedule

ByUpdated: May 04, 2025 2:05PM UTC . 6 min read

The sports world had two Game 7s Saturday between the NHL and NBA, so how about two more on Sunday? The Golden State Warriors head to Houston to face the Rockets with the winner advancing to the second round, while the Winnipeg Jets hope to avoid an upset at the hands of the St. Louis Blues after having the best record in the NHL this season. The Indiana Pacers and Cleveland Cavaliers are also in action to kick off the second round of the NBA playoffs, and  a 15-game MLB slate means there's no shortage of games to watch and bet on this Sunday.

Here are some of the top betting opportunities for each league with links to full game analysis and picks throughout the article while providing betting tips for today's matchups.

There is also a link to the best sportsbook promotion today from Caesars, which is offering 100% in profit boosts for new users after they place a first bet of at least $1.

Best NBA bets today

Golden State Warriors at Houston Rockets (-2.5, 203.5): 8:30 p.m. ET

Despite needing the play-in tournament to make the playoffs, the Warriors were actually the favorite entering this series. That looked to be the case as Golden State jumped out to a 3-1 series lead, but the Rockets have since won back-to-back games to force Game 7 and send the series back to Houston for a winner-take-all clash. The Rockets are 2-1 on their home court, most recently winning Game 5 in Houston 131-116. Stephen Curry's 24.3 points per game lead all players in this series, while Alperen Sengun leads Houston with 20.8.

The SportsLine Projection Model has one side of the total hitting in 60% of simulations, as well as one side of the spread hitting in 50% of sims.

Best NHL bets today

St. Louis Blues vs. Winnipeg Jets (-153, 5): 7 p.m. ET

The Jets jumped out to a 2-0 series lead before the Blues were able to tie things at 2-2. Winnipeg won Game 5 but failed to close things out in Game 6. Now, the series returns north of the border as the Jets look to avoid a first-round upset after entering the playoffs not only as the No. 1 seed in the West, but after having the best record in hockey.

The Jets allowed the fewest goals in the NHL this year, with goaltender Connor Hellebuyck posting a .925 save percentage and allowing just 2.00 goals per game. The Blues have gotten to Hellebuyck and Winnipeg's defense, though, averaging four goals per game and five per game since falling behind 2-0. Hellebuyck has a save percentage of just .815 thus far, and a big game from the likely Hart Memorial Trophy winner would go a long way in the Jets advancing. Cam Fowler has 10 points for the Blues, while Kyle Connor has nine points, including four goals, for the Jets.

Best MLB bets today

Minnesota Twins vs. Boston Red Sox (-203, 8.5): 1:35 p.m. ET

The Twins and Red Sox meet Sunday afternoon in the rubber match of the series, having split the first two contests. The Red Sox triumphed 6-1 Friday before the Twins got a 4-3 victory Saturday courtesy of a two-run home run from Kody Clemens. Minnesota sends Chris Paddack (0-3, 5.60 ERA) to the mound while Boston counters with Garrett Crochet (3-2, 2.05 ERA). Paddack has been unlucky in terms of run support with the Twins scoring one run or less in three of his starts, including his last outing against the Cleveland Guardians. Crochet is coming off a strong seven-inning showing against the Blue Jays, where he allowed just two runs and struck out six.

The Red Sox have lost three of their last four games, and hope to get a win Sunday before a day off. They'll next host the Texas Rangers for a three-game set beginning Tuesday. The Twins have been inconsistent, losing four in a row prior to Saturday's win. This losing rut came after a four-game winning streak. Minnesota also has a day off Monday before hosting the Baltimore Orioles for a three-game series beginning Tuesday.
