Best bets today: Mets-Dodgers among SportsLine's top plays for MLB for June 2

The NBA and NHL start their championship series later this week, but bettors still have seven MLB games to choose from on Monday, June 2. The marquee matchup features two of the top teams in the National League when the New York Mets travel to Los Angeles to face the Dodgers.

Best MLB bets today

New York Mets at Los Angeles Dodgers (-165, 9): 10:10 p.m. ET

The Dodgers took two of three versus the Yankees over the weekend and now host New York's other team for a big four-game series. The teams met back in late May, with the Mets winning two of the three games at home. 

Dustin May gets the call for Los Angeles on Monday. The right-hander has been inconsistent this season, allowing two runs or fewer in four starts and three or more in six others. The Dodgers' performance in May's outings mirrors that inconsistency, with Los Angeles going 5-5 in his 10 starts. 

Paul Blackburn makes his season debut for the Mets after recently coming off the injured list. The veteran right-hander went 1-2 with a 5.18 ERA in five starts with New York last season.

San Diego Padres at San Francisco Giants (-180, 7):  9:45 p.m. ET

The Giants weren't projected to be playoff contenders in 2025, but they enter June battling the Dodgers and Padres for first place in the National League West. San Francisco is 33-26 and trails Los Angeles by just three games in the division. 

Logan Webb will try to keep things rolling for the Giants. Webb has a 2.82 ERA this season, although he hasn't gotten much run support of late. San Francisco has lost three of Webb's last four starts, scoring a total of just six runs in those defeats. 

The Padres counter with Stephen Kolek. Kolek started the season off strong by pitching 14.1 scoreless innings in his first two starts. However, it's been a different story in his last three appearances, where Kolek allowed 15 runs in 16.1 innings of work.
