National Self-Exclusion Program Adds Wyoming to Participating States
The Wyoming Gaming Commission has announced its enrollment in a national program for people in the United States to opt out of gaming opportunities.
The National Voluntary Self-Exclusion Program is expanding to Wyoming, streamlining residents' opting out of ways to gamble in the state. As the Wyoming legislature has debated whether to expand gaming to include online casino play, the Wyoming Gaming Commission's participation in the national program for gaming self-exclusion augments players' courses of action in response to problem gambling.
Wyoming expands map for NVSEP
The National Voluntary Self-Exclusion Program (NVSEP) began in the US in 2024 as a collaboration between gaming regulators in four states and idPair. The idPair company creates technology to provide solutions for problem gambling risk detection and player protection.
The NVSEP's goal is to build a national system that consolidates state-specific self-exclusion programs into a unified platform. At present, 21 state gaming regulatory bodies have opted in at some level.
Wyoming is the latest to do so on a level that involves multiple gaming types. The Wyoming Gaming Commission (WGC) regulates pari-mutuel betting on horse races along with online sports wagering in the state.
Wyoming's membership in the NVSEP is of the multiple gaming type. According to a press release shared with Big Horn News, residents "can find a link to self-exclude on the WGC's website or may enroll online… to self-exclude from one or more forms of wagering, including online sports wagering, pari-mutuel wagering, and skill-based amusement games.
While there are also brick-and-mortar casinos within Wyoming's borders, those operate under the purview of the respective tribal governments and maintain their own programs for people who are concerned with responsible gambling. At this time, no tribal gaming authorities have joined the NVSEP.

Online casinos have been subject of debate in Cheyenne
Wyoming State Rep. Robert Davis has filed legislation to expand the WGC's authority to regulate casino apps in each of the past two years. Neither session has produced much momentum for the bill and Davis has not commented on whether he will attempt to affect the change again in future years.
Amid those discussions, the WGC issued a notice that offshore websites and sweepstakes casino sites offering casino games for real money are illegal according to state law. The notice from the WGC recommended that residents choose to take advantage of legal options at tribal casinos in the state instead.
