Sovereignty won a duel with Journalism to take the first leg of the Triple Crown at the Kentucky Derby, but now his connections announced last Tuesday that he won't run in the 2025 Preakness Stakes on Saturday, May 17, at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore. A win in the second leg would have made him the first horse since Justify in 2018 to capture any two legs of the Triple Crown.
