2025 Pacific Classic odds, horses, field: Racing insider offers best bets, top picks for Saturday's race

Preakness Stakes winner Journalism will face older horses for the first time when he leaves the starting gate in the 2025 Pacific Classic on Saturday at Del Mar just north of San Diego. Trained by Michael McCarthy, Journalism has six wins, two seconds and one third in nine career starts. He is coming off a gutty victory in the Haskell Stakes at Monmouth Park in New Jersey. For Saturday, Journalism has been installed as the 9-5 second choice in the 2025 Pacific Classic odds. Nysos, a 4-year-old who is trained by Bob Baffert, is the slight 8-5 favorite. The mercurial Fierceness (3-1), Midnight Mammoth (12-1) and Indispensable (15-1) round out the top five choices among the eight Pacific Classic horses.
