2025 Breeders' Cup Classic odds, horses, field: West Coast-based racing insider offers best bets, top picks

One year after finishing second in the Breeders' Cup Classic, the wildly talented but awfully unpredictable Fierceness will try to earn the title that eluded him last year when he faces a star-studded field in the 2025 Breeders' Cup Classic on Saturday at Del Mar just north of San Diego. Trained by Todd Pletcher, Fierceness has seven wins, two seconds and one third in 13 career starts. He is coming off an impressive win in the Pacific Classic, at the same distance and track as Saturday's race. With Kentucky Derby winner Sovereignty having scratched from the race, Fierceness has been installed as the 5-2 morning-line favorite in the 2025 Breeders' Cup Classic odds. Sierra Leone (7-2), Forever Young (7-2), Journalism (5-1) and Mindframe (6-1) round out the top five choices among the nine Breeders' Cup Classic horses.
