The 2024 NASCAR Cup Series schedule continues on Sunday with the 2024 Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway. This race will move back to the concrete layout on the 0.533-mile oval after being run as a dirt race the last three seasons. Christopher Bell won the spring race on the dirt at Bristol last years and he was also a winner in Phoenix last week. Now he's priced 13-2 in the 2024 Food City 500 odds behind Kyle Larson (19-4) and William Byron (6-1).

Before making any NASCAR picks, be sure to see what CBS Sports NASCAR writer Steven Taranto has to say.

Taranto is the lead NASCAR writer for CBSSports.com, and he chronicles stock car racing with the same thoroughness and passion that he's had since becoming a full-time race fan in 2001. He has an annual NASCAR media credential and also publishes a popular weekly NASCAR predictions column, famously calling Ross Chastain and Daniel Suarez's breakthrough wins in 2022. Taranto started this season with a bang by nailing William Byron as a 16-1 longshot in the Daytona 500 and Kyle Larson at 4-1 in the Pennzoil 400! He also moonlights as a sim racer and has 20 career wins in iRacing.

For the 2024 Food City 500, we can tell you Taranto is high on Ty Gibbs, even though he's a 13-1 longshot. "The last time the Cup Series raced at Bristol, Gibbs led a career-high 102 laps and looked to have a potential race-winning car before finishing fifth. In the first short track race of the year at The Clash, Gibbs was cruising on his way to victory before a late caution foiled that. And he's coming off of two-straight top fives and three-straight top 10s, including a career-best third place finish last week at Phoenix where he led 57 laps," Taranto said.

Another curveball: He's fading Kyle Busch (12-1), even though he's an eight-time winner at Bristol. "This has surely been a difficult week at Richard Childress Racing, as they brought two cars to the racetrack in Phoenix that were downright terrible, and Busch lacked speed all weekend before finishing a lap down in 22nd. The performance of the RCR cars last week is my primary concern, but there's another concern to be had in that Busch has three finishes of 20th or worse in his last three Bristol races (One of which was a DNF due to a blown engine in 2022)," Taranto told SportsLine.

Taranto also locked in four more Food City 500 best bets and is also high on a major dark horse priced at over 75-1! You ABSOLUTELY need to see his picks before locking in any NASCAR picks of your own for the 2024 Food City 500.
