2024 College football betting strategy: Proven expert shares top situational spots for Week 8
In Week 7, we hit our top-rated situational play for the fourth consecutive week as the Iowa Hawkeyes (-2.5) crushed both the Washington Huskies and the point spread in their 40-16 victory.
As we accurately assessed, Iowa's edge in physicality was a mismatch for the more finesse Huskies, who were coming off their win over Michigan and making a long trip to face an Iowa club that was reeling from its blowout loss to Ohio State. Â
The Hawkeyes pulled away behind a 20-6 margin in the second half. They compiled 220 rushing yards, and their sturdy defense forced two Washington turnovers.
However, our secondary situational play blew up in spectacular fashion when the Vanderbilt Commodores pulled their second consecutive upset with a 20-13 upset of Kentucky.
We wondered whether Vandy (+11.5) would be in a letdown spot following its historic 40-35 upset of Alabama as a three-touchdown underdog. Instead, the homestanding Wildcats were caught sleeping. They came out flat and never recovered, felled by 12 penalties and a pair of crucial turnovers.Â
For Week 8 of the 2024 college football season, there are a couple of situational spots we have identified that appear favorable. We are posting just one for now, but might add another as the week progresses.Â
