2024 AAC futures odds: Conference winner picks, top longshots, win total best bets and more to know
Get ready for the 2024 college football season with our dive into the AAC

With the exception of the former Pac-12 (may you rest in peace), arguably no other conference has undergone more upheaval over the past two years than the American Athletic Conference. Houston, Cincinnati and UCF left for the Big 12 prior to the 2023 season, while six schools -- North Texas, UTSA, Rice, FAU, Charlotte and UAB -- entered the AAC. After the year, SMU traded the AAC for the ACC and were replaced by Army, which begins its first season in the conference this fall.
Now that all formal introductions have been made, the AAC can get down to the business of playing football. Memphis, which went 10-3 last season and beat Iowa State in the AutoZone Liberty Bowl, was tabbed as the favorite to win the conference title in the AAC preseason media poll, receiving 23 of a possible 30 first-place votes. UTSA, which went 9-4 in its first season in the American last year, was picked second. Meanwhile Army was selected fifth.
Winning the AAC has never meant more than it will this season. Because of the new 12-team College Football Playoff format, at least one Group of Five conference champion will reach the playoff, meaning the AAC champ could be playing in its most important postseason game ever.
Which team will that be? Before making any AAC bets for the 2024 season, you need to see what legendary college football handicapper Bruce Marshall has to say.
For years, the Vegas-based Marshall was synonymous with The Gold Sheet, the famed sports betting newsletter. With a background in play-by-play work and sports information while in college, he joined TGS in 1981 when hired by the legendary Mort Olshan and served as executive editor for many years. Marshall now supplies his unique and colorful brand of football and basketball analysis to SportsLine members.
Now, Marshall has set his sights on the 2024 AAC season. He has revealed his best bets, including which team will win the conference title and which clubs to back in regard to their win totals. You ABSOLUTELY need to see what they are before making any AAC picks.
