For those of you old enough to think you might have seen something that looks like the Wyoming offense before, maybe it's the Nebraska attack of the late 60s and early 70s. These days, it's not Jerry Tagge handing off the ball to Jeff Kinney or Joe Orduna, but the similarities are no accident, as Huskers alum Craig Bohl has been recreating a modernized version of Bob Devaney's power-based offense for nearly a decade in Laramie after getting the title ball rolling in his previous, wildly-successful stop at North Dakota State.

There are limitations to running a 1970s-style offense in the modern era, however, and for that, the fact that Josh Allen could impress enough in this version of the old Cornhuskers offense and become an NFL first-round pick a few years ago continues to astound. Bohl's retro version of power football has its limitations in the 2020s, but underestimate Wyoming at your own peril, especially in the Mountain West, as Bohl's old-Nebraska style also comes with the solid fundamentals and attention to detail of Devaney's teams. The Cowboys might not threaten for a New Year's Six berth, but they remain an unquestionably tough out in their own conference...
