After whetting our appetite Saturday night, the 2022 USFL season really gets going Sunday with a triple-header that kicks off with the Michigan Panthers facing the Houston Gamblers. This is expected to be an entertaining matchup between balanced teams led by notable head coaches. Longtime NFL coach Jeff Fishers leads the Panthers and is one of the USFL's most noteworthy hires. The Gamblers are led by Kevin Sumlin, who rebuilt the University of Houston football team before coaching at Texas A&M for six years. 

Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET at at Protective Stadium in Birmingham, Ala. Michigan is a three-point favorite in the latest Gamblers vs. Panthers odds from Caesars Sportsbook, and the over-under for total points scored is 43. Patterson has excellent mobility and can stretch plays, and WRs Lance Lenoir and Jeff Badet both have high-end speed and should be able to make plays deep. The Panthers also are very strong on the defensive front, led by XFL sack leader Cavon Walker (4.5 in five games) and former Iowa State standout JaQuan Bailey.         

The expert also has taken into account that the Gamblers also have a couple of solid options at QB. Clayton Thorson the protypical option with excellent mechanics and Kenji Behar is an excellent all-around athlete. The top receivers are undersized, speedy types, with JoJo Ward and Isaiah Zuber among those boasting the speed to run by defensive backs. RB Dalyn Dawkins has spent time with the Tennessee Titans and has some receiving ability out of the backfield. LB Beniquez Brown, who excelled in the XFL and AAF, should set the tone on defense.
