2022 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year odds: Washington receiver Jahan Dotson new betting favorite

Commanders receiver Jahan Dotson is the new favorite for NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year at Caesars Sportsbook.

When the 2022 NFL season kicked off, Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett was the betting favorite at Caesars Sportsbook to win Offensive Rookie of the Year even though he wasn't going to be the Week 1 starter. Pickett didn't play in the opener and is now the 12th favorite at +1800; the Washington Commanders' Jahan Dotson is the new leader at +900 after a terrific debut.

In Sunday's 28-22 comeback win over Jacksonville, Dotson was targeted by new Washington QB Carson Wentz five times and caught three for 40 yards and two scores: A 7-yard TD in the second quarter and the game-winning 24-yarder with 1:45 remaining. It was the first time a rookie hauled in a game-winning touchdown reception in the final two minutes of regulation or overtime in his first career game since Jacksonville's Ernest Wilford did so in Week 1 of the 2004 season.

Dotson was the No. 16 overall pick out of Penn State. Washington's last OROY was quarterback Robert Griffin III in 2012. Dotson will see the Defensive Rookie of the Year favorite, Lions end Aidan Hutchinson (+500), this Sunday in Detroit. Washington is seeking its first 2-0 start since 2011, the third-longest active run without a 2-0 start.

"I saw him do it all training camp," Wentz said of Dotson, who became the first Washington rookie receiver to have at least two touchdown receptions in a Week 1 game. "I'm just glad that the world gets to see what he can do now, too."

Atlanta's Drake London, the first receiver taken in the 2022 draft at No. 8 overall, Houston running back Dameon Pierce and Pittsburgh receiver George Pickens are all +1000 to win OROY.

London had five catches for 57 yards in the Falcons' loss to New Orleans. Pierce carried 11 times (three fewer than Rex Burkhead in a bit of a Fantasy surprise) for 33 yards and had one catch for six yards in a tie vs. Indianapolis. Pickens had just one catch for three yards in Pittsburgh's upset of Cincinnati.
