2022 NCAA Tournament Purdue vs. Yale odds, line, predictions: Proven college basketball model reveals picks for East Regional first-round matchup

The SportsLine projection model has a pick for Friday's NCAA Tournament game between the third-seeded Boilermakers and 14th-seeded Bulldogs

The third-seeded Purdue Boilermakers look to avenge their first-round loss last year when they meet the No. 14 seed Yale Bulldogs in an East Region first-round game of the 2022 NCAA Tournament at the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee on Friday. Purdue (27-7) was upset by 13th-seeded North Texas in overtime in 2021 after having reached the Elite Eight two years earlier. Yale (19-11), which suffered a first-round loss against LSU in its last Tournament appearance in 2019, defeated Princeton on Sunday to win the Ivy League tournament championship.

Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. ET. The Boilermakers are 16.5-point favorites in the latest Purdue vs. Yale odds from Caesars Sportsbook, while the over-under for total points scored is 145. (See up-to-date odds for every game this week on our college basketball odds page.)

Before making any Yale vs. Purdue picks or NCAA Tournament predictions, be sure to check out what the SportsLine Projection Model has to say.

The model simulates every Division I college basketball game 10,000 times. Over the past five-plus years, the proprietary computer model has generated an impressive profit of almost $1,500 for $100 players on its top-rated college basketball picks against the spread. Anyone who has followed it has seen HUGE returns.

The model knows Purdue reached the Sweet Sixteen three consecutive times from 2017-19 before being shocked by North Texas last year. The Boilermakers, who have had their last three NCAA Tournament contests go to overtime, had their bid for their first Big Ten Conference tournament title halted Sunday as they were defeated 75-66 by Iowa in the championship game. Sophomore guard Jaden Ivey leads Purdue with an average of 17.4 points and has scored at least 20 in three of his last five outings.

The model also knows Yale is just 1-6 all-time in the NCAA Tournament, with its only victory coming in the first round against Baylor in 2016. The Bulldogs got off to a 6-8 start this season but have been outstanding since mid-January, winning 13 of 16 contests. Senior guard Azar Swain is averaging a team-high 19.2 points and has scored at least 22 in each of his last three games.

Now, the model has set its sights on the NCAA Tournament and Purdue vs. Yale. We can tell you it is leaning Over the total, and it also says one side of the spread covers in well over 50 percent of simulations! You ABSOLUTELY need to see it before locking in any college basketball picks.
