Davis Stakes, Tampa Bay Derby and Peter Pan Stakes, the trifecta in the Risen Star Stakes, Blue Grass Stakes and Pennsylvania Derby and the superfecta in the Belmont Stakes. Weir knows that since the Awesome Again Stakes 2021 serves as a prep race for next month's Breeders' Cup Classic, Saturday's race has drawn a classy and well accomplished field. That includes Medina Spirit, who has won more than $2.3 million including the Kentucky Derby; Tripoli, who is coming off a victory in the Grade 1 Pacific Classic; and Idol, who won the Grade 1 Santa Anita Handicap.

Medina Spirit is projected to set the early pace for this race, but he will face older horses for the first time. Tripoli is the second choice on the morning line, at 3-1, but there is a question of whether he can bounce back quickly after that big Pacific Classic performance. Idol, who is the fifth choice on the morning line at 5-1, is returning to the races after a seven-month layoff, which puts his fitness for Saturday into question.
