2020 Masters odds: Betting action at William Hill heavy on Tiger Woods to repeat

Could Tiger Woods repeat as Masters champion come November? Many bettors at William Hill sportsbook clearly think so.

The 2020 Masters was to begin at Augusta National Golf Club this Thursday but was postponed due the coronavirus. On Monday, the club – it runs the Masters, not the PGA Tour – announced that the tournament would be played (hopefully) from Nov. 12-15, making it the last of the majors this year instead of the first. The British Open has been outright canceled.

That Nov. 12-15 weekend will be quite something in the sports world as it's obviously smack dab in the middle of the NFL and college football seasons (hopefully). In theory, the NHL and NBA regular seasons would be ongoing then as well. College basketball usually has started by then too.

Of course, Tiger Woods memorably won the Masters last year, his fifth green jacket (one shy of Jack Nicklaus' record) and first major title since the 2008 U.S. Open. It was Tiger's first-ever major title when he trailed entering the final round – Italy's Francesco Molinari was the overnight leader but shot a final-round 74 compared to a 70 for Tiger. He finished at 13-under 275, one up on Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka and Xander Schauffele.

At William Hill sportsbook, Tiger is +1400 ($1400 return on $100 wager) to become the first Masters repeat winner since Woods himself in 2001-02. Bettors at the site are crushing Woods to accomplish that as the most total tickets (six percent) and most overall money wagered (eight percent) are both on Tiger.

World No. 1 Rory McIlroy, who is looking for his first Masters title and to complete the career Grand Slam, is the +650 favorite and taking five percent of all bets and five percent of the handle. Spain's Jon Rahm is the second-favorite at +1200 as he looks for his first Masters title. Spaniards have won the Masters five times overall, tied for second-most among all countries (with South Africa) behind the USA.

One bettor at William Hill dropped $1,650 on Englishman Paul Casey to win at +6000, which would return $100,650. His best result at Augusta is a T4 in 2016. Casey missed the cut in 2019 with scores of 81-73.

Top Masters handle by tickets
Tiger Woods: 6 percent
Brooks Koepka: 5
Tony Finau: 5
Rory McIlroy: 5

Top Masters handle by money
Tiger Woods: 8 percent
Brooks Koepka: 7
Jon Rahm: 6
