Coronavirus: PGA Tour reportedly to resume schedule June 11 at Colonial in Fort Worth

There has been no action on the PGA Tour since the first round of the Players Championship on March 12 due to the coronavirus. The 2020 British Open has been canceled, and the PGA Championship, U.S. Open and Masters all have been pushed to the fall.
Most of the regular Tour events whose spot in the rotation already has been passed have been canceled and not postponed. The next event on the PGA Tour schedule that has yet to be canceled is the May 21-24 Charles Schwab Challenge at historic Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas.
According to a report from Golf Digest, that event is expected to kick off the resumption of PGA Tour action but now will be played June 11-14 at Colonial. No fans will be allowed in attendance and no fans are likely to be for any event for at least several weeks after. Fields could be increased across the board to help make up for lost events.
The June 11-14 date had been reserved for the RBC Canadian Open but that will no longer be played. The RBC Heritage, originally scheduled this week at Harbour Town on Hilton Head Island, is likely to take that spot. The following week is open – that had been when the U.S. Open was to be played at Winged Foot in New York. That's now set for Sept. 17-20.
The defending champion of the Charles Schwab Challenge – which has had several names over the years – is American Kevin Na, who finished at 13-under 267 last year, four ahead of Tony Finau. In addition to a big check, Na also won a 1973 blue Dodge Challenger, and he gifted it to his caddie Kenny Harms.
Colonial is one of the few places where Tiger Woods has never won, but he only played there once and that was way back in 1997. Golf fans may remember former LPGA star Annika Sorenstam played in the 2003 tournament at Colonial, the first woman to play in a PGA Tour event in 58 years. She missed the cut.Â
